Warm, stylish and comfortable house in the center of Wolfenbüttel
This is our permanent place (160 sqm.) in Wolfenbüttel (Lower Saxony close to the Harz mountains). It is located directly in the pittoreske historic city centre in a quiet street with houses built in the 18th century. From Berlin to Wolfenbüttel it is about 2 hrs by car and even less by train. The next airport close by is in Berlin or Hannover (Lufthansa, Ryanair, etc.). The next big cities are Braunschweig (15 min.) and Wolfsburg with inhabitants of >200 K and several technical and arts museums. With Wolfsburg being the home of Volkswagen including its renowned ‚Autostadt‘ (autocity).
The apartment is the main building of two houses (front and back) overseeing the city with plenty of space in a historic building from 1780 which was constantly restored and renovated.
This apartment (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th) was renovated in 2020, 2023, 2024 and 2025 and has a nice view over the historic city center. We put a lot of effort in it and it is very cosy and warm. There is also a balcony on the third level attached to the kitchen and living room. Three bikes are available and parking is in the back of the building (private). Maximum occupancy is seven people (three rooms with beds for two and an additional mattress if necessary).

About the neighborhood
Wolfenbüttel is a modern university city and Germany's City with > 50 thousand inhabitants. In spite of its modern orientation, Wolfenbüttel is still very proud of its historical roots and buildings, delightful traditions and warm, friendly charm. You too will be enchanted by Wolfenbüttel lively old city centre with its shopper-friendly pedestrian zone and historic architectural highlights reaching back over five centuries. Visit its renowned museums and theatres, high-profile festivals and popular markets from the market fair to the Christmas market. We also have a lot of restaurants and bars including two high class cuisine restaurants around the corner.
We are in walking distance (5 min.) to a very modern public swimming (summer and winter) pool and sauna. The upper Harz mountain area is close by and serval lakes for swimming and great nature for walks or hiking are 40-50 min. away.
All you need is close by (grocery, bars, bakery, restaurants,...) and there is not much to add because you life in the middle of the city center. A very charming city with a castle, theater and park around the corner.

De communicatie verliep vlot. Het huis was volgens de verwachtingen. Er lag een boek met wandelroutes, dat kwam ons heel goed van pas.

My wife with a PhD in biology is in the end of her 30s and I am eight years older. I am working in a leading occupational health and safety position. We love art, music, literature, sport and nature. We have toddler twins and a half year old baby.
Both of us are non-smokers, open-minded, clean and like to have our place back in the same condition as we treat yours. Minimum prefered change is 2w, but 3w would be perfect. We are flexible of course.
We have done many exchanges (over 30) to all different places in Europe including Paris (four times), Courchevel, several trips to Amsterdam, Cabris near Cannes, Rome and Spain (Denia, Cadaqués) and Bali on another platform.
We believe exchanging homes is a great way of taking a vacation and get a different view of other countries.
