Our Neighbourhood
Nearest Airport: Keflavik Airport - ca. 2 hours by car
The cottage is situated by the lake Skorradalsvatn and there is a beautiful view over the lake and the surrounding mountains. A small town, Borgarnes, is only 20 min. away by car. There you can find grocery stores, restaurants, swimming-pool and an interesting exhibition about the Icelandic Sagas. Closer to the cottage there is another swimming-pool, smaller but very nice. Ca 40 min. away, in Reykholtsdalur, there is a spa with many pools, sauna and a restaurant. Farther away is Reykholt, with a church and an exhibition about Snorri Sturluson who lived there in the 13th century, and farther up the valley there are beautiful waterfalls, Hraunfossar. It is also possible to make a daytrip to the glacier Langjökull and to Snæfellsnes, a peninsula to the west. There are, thankfully, no vulcanos in the vicinity!
