A spacious double room in a 2 bed flat in the pretty historic village of Rottingdean, close to the beach
Rottingdean, the Sussex village with the windmill, is an old smugglers' village. There are many pubs which were the outlets for contriband and you will find a memorial to the Rev. Hooker in the local church who assisted the smugglers, recognising that local farmers were impoverished in the winter. There are literary connections to Rudyard Kipling, Edith Bagnold and others, as well as to glamorous stars in the 1930's (before flights further afield became more popular). There are lovely downland walks in the South Downs National Park close by and, of course, the beach with walks along the Undercliff to the Marina and beyond, with electric bike hire available by The White Horses Hotel. Lots of opportunities for swimming in the sea at high tide or at the nearby newly refurbished art deco Saltdean Lido.
