House Berlin (1,5 h), Germany
We are a family living in the wonderful Region of the so-called “Spreewald” (“Spree” is a river and “Wald” means the forested region). Our sons (22; 25 years) normally would not travel with us.
We live in a village (Drehnow, with 600 inhabitants) near Cottbus, a cultural town with 100.000 inhabitants.
Special for our region is the “sorbic” Language. Some people, like my mother, can speak it too.
The Spreewald is a stream landscape with a lot of small feeders, which are perfectly for canoeing- or boat-tours. You can also take good bike-tours in the Spreewald.
We have got an art-gallery and a swimming-pool on our yard.
We have also a little second house in Berlin.
The location of our home is ideal, when you want to visit some big cities: You can reach both Berlin (north) and the UNESCO-World-Heritage-city Dresden (south) in 1 and a half hour.
The Czech capital Prague can be reached by train in 4 hours.
(…and many more, like Potsdam, Görlitz and Bautzen)
There are also a lot of small or big swimming lakes near our home.
Our past home-exchange-partners really enjoyed their holidays in our home!
We have collected our personal favorite tourist attractions in our region in the links.
