A spacious and cosy home in the south of Holland
We live near the center of Tilburg, in the museum district. The textile industry played a major role in Tilburg until well into the last century. And much of that history can still be found in Tilburg. Our house is located on the site of the former Eras wool factory. Many of the old production halls have been preserved and transformed into homes. Around the corner are two renowned museums: the Textielmuseum and De Pont (modern art). Both museums are housed in old factory buildings from the textile industry. People come to Tilburg from all over the world to visit these museums.
Our house is spacious, comfortable, and in the style of the old factory buildings. Our city garden is a wonderful place to relax. At the end of July, our fig tree will produce its first harvest, and with a bit of luck, you'll be able to eat fresh figs. There's a supermarket within walking distance, and even the city center is within walking distance. On the way there, you'll pass through the Spoorzone, a beautiful example of modern urban development while preserving cultural heritage. The beautiful library there has rightly been declared the most beautiful building in the world. There's also a food hall and various eateries and cafes. From our house, it's a lovely walk along the canal to Piushaven, a vibrant area for going out or relaxing.
Wij wonen vlakbij het centrum van Tilburg, in het museumkwartier. De textielindustrie speelde tot in de vorige eeuw een grote rol in Tilburg. En van die geschiedenis is nog veel terug te vinden in Tilburg. Ons huis staat op het terrein van de voormalige Eras-wolfabriek. Veel van de oude productiehallen zijn behouden gebleven en getransformeerd naar woningen. Om de hoe twee gerenommeerde musea: het Textielmuseum en De Pont (moderne kunst). Beide musea zijn ondergebracht in oude fabriekspanden uit de textielindustrie. Van over de hele wereld komt men naar Tilburg om deze musea te bezoeken.
Ons huis is ruim, comfortabel en in stijl van de oude fabriekspanden. In onze stadstuin is het heerlijk toeven. Eind juli geeft onze vijgenboom zijn de eerste oogt en met een beetje geluk eten jullie verse vijgen. Op loopafstand is er een supermarkt en zelfs het centrum is te voet te bereiken. Op weg daar naar het centrum passeren jullie de Spoorzone, een mooi voorbeeld van moderne stadsontwikkeling met behoud van cultureel erfgoed. De mooie bibliotheek daar werd met recht tot het mooiste gebouw ter wereld uitgeroepen. Ook zijn daar de foodhall en diverse eettentjes en cafe’s. Vanaf ons huis is het een mooie wandeling langs het kanaal naar de Piushaven, dat een bruisend gebied om uit te gaan of te verblijven.

About the neighborhood
Tilburg is surrounded by numerous nature reserves, perfect for walking and cycling. You can easily reach them by bike, car, train, or even on foot. The Loonse en Drunense Dunes National Park, with its sand drifts and the Biesbosch National Park, is particularly special. We have hiking and cycling maps in our house to help you plan your routes.
Tilburg is centrally located, making it easy to reach many Dutch and Belgian cities: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Nijmegen, and also Brabant gems like 's-Hertogenbosch and Breda, not to mention Eindhoven. Antwerp is less than an hour away. Park in the P+R and continue your journey by public transport to the center of this beautiful city. Antwerp is also easily accessible by train from Tilburg these days. Brussels and Ghent are an hour and a half away, and Bruges is two hours away.
Tilburg also has a lot to offer for children: swimming pools, a climbing forest, and the Beekse Bergen safari park. A home exchange in Tilburg is a must-see: Efteling, where fairytales come to life. Truly one of the most beautiful amusement parks! Not only children, but adults too have a great time here. Believe me, we still go every year. In the summer, Efteling is open until 10 pm on weekends. Also not to be missed is the Tilburg funfair—the largest in the Benelux—with 2 kilometers of attractions in the city center, featuring a Pink Monday.

Tilburg is omringd door vele natuurgebieden, waar het geweldig wandelen en fietsen is. Je kunt ze eenvoudig met de fiets, de auto, de trein of ook wel te voet bereiken. Heel bijzonder is het nationaal park De Loonse en Drunense Duinen met zijn zandverstuivingen en de Biesbosch. In ons huis zijn wandel- en fietskaarten waarmee je je routes kunt uitzetten.
Tilburg is centraal gelegen en daarom zijn veel Nederlandse maar ook Belgische steden goed te bereiken: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Nijmegen en ook de Brabantse parels als Den Bosch en Breda en niet te vergeten Eindhoven. Antwerpen bereik je in minder dan een uur. Parkeer in de P+R en reis verder met het openbaar vervoer naar het centrum van deze mooie stad. Tegenwoordig in Antwerpen ook goed per trein te bereiken vanuit Tilburg. Brussel en Gent zijn anderhalf uur rijden, Brugge ligt op twee uur afstand.
Ook voor kinderen heeft Tilburg veel te bieden: zwembaden, een klimbos en safaripark Beekse Bergen. Een huizenruil in Tilburg kan niet zonder een bezoek aan De Efteling, waar sprookjes weer tot leven komen. Met recht een van de mooiste attractieparken! Niet alleen kinderen, maar ook volwassenen hebben hier een goede tijd. Geloof me, wij gaan nog steeds ieder jaar. In de zomer is de Efteling in weekenden tot 22 uur open. Ook niet te missen is de Tilburgse kermis -de grootste van de Benelux- met 2 kilometer aan attracties in de centrum van de stad met een roze maandag.
En natuurlijk heeft Tilburg nog meer te bieden. Ik help je om ervoor te zorgen dat je tijd hier onvergetelijk wordt.

We love to travel and explore other countries: visiting cities, exploring nature and meeting new people. Although my three have left the home of their childhood -except my youngest- we often travel together. Sometimes it's the four of us, and sometimes just one of them is joining me. Also I dont mind travelling on my own. Homeswapping is part of our way of life. We look after your house and pets (if needed) and be respectful to your neighbors.
