My home is near Kehena Beach on the Puna coast of Hawaii. Walk to the black sand beach is less than one mile. This is a rural setting and a lava coastline. (Not the way tourist brochures for Hawaii usually look. Long sandy beaches are on the other side of the island.) This rural location is 20 minutes from Pahoa, close (but not too close!) to the active Kilauea volcano flow. There's both sun and rain nearly daily in this gorgeous rainforest setting.

The house is unique, with large sliding glass windows and no screens, except in the bedroom. Beautiful ocean views from upstairs. Downstairs is a small, one bedroom studio apartment with one queen size bed. If we are home and you do a non-simultaneous exchange, this is the space I have to offer. There's a separate entrance, lanai, bathroom with outdoor shower and kitchenette. Washer, dryer, and internet are available to both upstairs and downstairs guests.
