Our Neighbourhood

Nearest Airport: Aalborg airport - 7 km

Our home is in the city of Aalborg. The house is situated just next to the city zoo (nearly expanded and renovated in 2021) and one of the biggest parks in the town (Mølleparken).
Shops for your everyday needs are all in walking distance of our house.

About the town: Aalborg is the 'capital' of Northern Jutland with about 200.000 inhabitants. The city dates back to the 11. century. Underneath the centre of the city there are traces of a viking settlement as well as the remains of the medieval town (this can be seen today - check out https://nordjyskemuseer.dk/u/graabroedekloster-museet/). The city grew through the 19.century industrial revolution, where Aalborg had several large factories. Through the last 20 years or so, the city has developed into a city with multiple cultural offers (i.g. koncerts in Musikkens Hus, out-door concerts in Karolinelund etc., historical museums, art museums, exhibitions and fairs etc. in Nordkraft and loads more).

Shopping/restaurants etc.: The city centre is about 2 km away - a ten minute bike-ride or a 20 minute walk - and there is a bus stop just around the corner, the bus will take you to the centre in 10 minutes. In the city centre there is a vast variety of different shops and restaurants, cafés.

Northern Jutland (check out https://www.enjoynordjylland.dk/nordjylland/top-sevaerdigheder) :
Aalborg is near some of the best beaches in Denmark. Blokhus beach is 40 minutes away by car, and if you have small children, the eastern coasts are perfect with their shallow water - Øster Hurup beach for example has a great beach for kids.
Aalborg is also near af popular fun park, Fårup Sommerland https://www.faarupsommerland.dk/da/ .
If you are interested in the local history, you can visit the large viking settlement at Lindholm Høje (https://nordjyskemuseer.dk/u/vikingemuseet-lindholm-hoje/) or the ring fortress museum Fyrkat (https://nordjyskemuseer.dk/en/u/vikingemuseet-fyrkat-en/).
