Friendly and comfortable house in Arnhem, Netherlands
Our house is a comfortable, practical and friendly house at the North border of the city of Arnhem and yet it's close to the centre. It's an early example (late 1950's) of a typical Dutch 'rijtjeshuis', in the middle of a block of six houses, with a garden in front and at the back. The natural environment is less typically Dutch, it's relatively hilly and amongst others known for the beautiful nature on the Veluwe closeby. There are four bedrooms, the bathroom contains a bath and seperate shower. Also, there is wifi and ofcourse we have bicycles available.

Our Neighbourhood
- Park Klarenbeek (0.8 km)
- Shopping Centre Geitenkamp (1.0 km)
Arnhem is in the middle of the Netherlands and has a population of plm.166.000 inhabitants. Our neighbourhood is quiet and at the highest point of town. We live at the North-border of the city and yet the centre is not far away and easy to reach. At the end of our street you have a wonderful view over the city and when the weather is clear you can see Germany. Arnhem has been elected the greenest city of the Netherlands in 2008 and of Europe in 2009. There are many lovely parks and during the summer there are several (outdoor) festivals. A big Zoo is nearby, as are several museums, like the lively Netherlands Openair Museum, the Museum Arnhem and the Kröller Muller Museum, with a large collection of van Goghs and its beautiful sculpture garden. There is a public indoor swimming pool around the corner, a public outdoor swimming pool at 10-15 minutes walking distance and a small playground for young children across the street. A small shopping centre is at a distance of plm. 1 km. and larger shopping centres are a bit further away. National Park 'De Hoge Veluwe' is the largest national park of the country and only ten minutes driving. The neighbourhood is close to highways, it's 20 minutes driving to Germany and an hour to Amsterdam. Trainconnections are very good.

About Our Family
We are a family of four, our daughters are adults and live elsewhere in the Netherlands. We started with exchanging when they were young and look back upon wonderful experiences. Nowadays, we usually travel the two of us.
We both work almost all of our working-life in the cultural field. Klaartje has long been connected to the museumworld as a projectleader and deputy director. Today she works in an organisation which supports public libraries. Maurits has been active as a documentary-maker and director of centres for arts education. Presently, he works on occasional creative projects.
Naturally, we are interested in many and diverse expressions of arts and culture, history, etc. But we also love the fringes and the outdoors, e.g. hiking and cycling in nature and to discover new environments whether in or outside the city. We enjoy the unexpected encounters when travelling.
We have some toys for young children at home and close to our house, there is a small playground for the (very) young. Parks are nearby. The street we live in is a one way street and usually quiet. Around the corner there is an indoor public swimming pool and there is an outdoor swimming pool at a 15 minutes walk, which is open from April to September. Also close is a large Zoo (www.burgers.zoo.nl) and the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum (www.openluchtmuseum.nl).
Lifestyle
We're an active and open couple with broad interests.
