Friends of us are experienced Intervac members, and very enthousiastic about home-exchanging. Reason enough for us to have joined in 2015. We have made five exchanges since then and are as enthousiastic is our friends.
We have moved from the village where we were living to Amsterdam in March 2016.
We now have our home in a newly built fully equipped, appartment building (incl. elevator and parking) in Amsterdam North. Just 10 min. away from Amsterdam Central Station and the historic centre of Amsterdam. Very centrally located, yet a vivid but not overrun part of the city.
Our lovely sunny, bright and cosy, open plan living, appartment (117 m2) is located on the 2nd floor, includes two bedrooms, a bathroom and separate toilet. The doors in the living room lead directly to a 54m2 roof terrace, facing south. On top we have a separate balcony (loggia), facing West.
We are a three person family, our son is living his own student life and will occasionally tag along with us.

Vecindario

Sobre el vecindario

We live in Amsterdam Noord, very close to the city. 5 min. by bicycle to the (5min.) ferry to the Central Station and you are right in the old city centre.
Transport from the airport to the Central Station takes less than 15 minutes by train.
Our area is in full development from an industrial area to a residential indie area, with many creative companies and pop up restaurants and bars.
Supermarkets and other shops are within a 15 min walk, 5 min. cycling. There is a street market three days a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The so called 'Van der Pek buurt'- area offers a nice view of historic social housing development. The area used to be full of shipyards and to house the labourers well laid out housing plans and greenery were developed early 20th century.

There are plenty of restaurants in the direct vicinity. From informal to fine dining. And of course you will find heaps more restaurants in the centre of Amsterdam.
We are also very close (10 min by bicycle) to Waterland, where you can experience the Dutch country side and traditional Dutch landscapes of dikes, meadows, traditional houses and farms as well as the IJsselmeer.
The beach of Zandvoort is half an hour away by train. As are the cities of Utrecht and Leiden.
