Lake District house with great views 2 mins walk from the river
Our spacious detached home is on the edge of the Lake District National Park with tremendous views over fells and fields. Our house comfortably sleeps 5 or more people and is located on a private road, a two minute walk to the river Kent and a twenty minute walk to the centre of Kendal. We have a small front garden and a large sloping back garden with seating area, apple trees and views over sheep fields, the River Kent and the Cumbrian fells.
Our large wooden floored dining room/kitchen with its wood burning stove is the perfect place for relaxing on the sofa while gazing at the sheep fields and fells of the Lake District. Our 1930s house with its feature stained glass windows is on two floors and heated throughout with central heating. Our comfortable downstairs lounge has a sofa and large seat (more wonderful views), piano, Smart TV, wood burning stove and a selection of books of local interest. The downstairs laundry room has a washing machine. Muddy boots and wellies can be stored in an outside porch. The garage has a pool table and 3 bikes of various adult/junior sizes.
A small golf course and public driving range is a 5 minutes walk. We have excellent transport links, Oxenholme (a 10 minute drive) is on the west coast mainline with direct trains to Manchester (1 hour 15 mins), Edinburgh (2 hours) and London (2 hours 45 minutes). The M6 motorway is only 15 minutes away from the house.

The centre of the vibrant market town of Kendal is a pleasant twenty minute walk from the House (partly along the river). The River Kent is a two minute walk away where you can swim or nature watch (we regularly see Oyster Catchers and Mergansers and occasionally Otters and Kingfishers). The small peaceful village of Staveley is a 10 minute drive away (or 1 hour along the Dales Way) where you can enjoy its riverside Cafe (in a converted mill), bike shop, marvellous Hawkshead Brewery or amazing bakery.
The boundary of the Lake District National park is a mile away with easy access (by bus, train or road) to Lake Windermere (12 minutes drive), Ambleside (30 mins), Grasmere (35 minutes) Keswick (45 minutes).
Kendal is home to many cafes, shops, supermarkets (including Booths), pubs, restaurants, a Castle and the excellent Brewery Arts Centre (home to the Kendal Mountain film Festival) with its cinema, programme of international musicians and theatre performances. A great place to spend an evening out. There are many country pubs (some with their own breweries) within driving distance).

About Our Family
We are a family of five who love our home and where we live. Claire is a Researcher at Lancaster University and Pete works in Community Development throughout the NW of England and we live with our two of our children. We have lived at Kentrigg for the last ten years. Our love of the outdoors (cycling, wild swimming, canoeing, running and rock climbing) means our family home is in the perfect location
Lifestyle
We are a relaxed family that loves spending time together. Our children are very active and enjoy either playing the piano, singing, playing Badminton, drama, cinema and spending time with their friends. We love travelling to new places during our free time. We are a very busy family that really values our leisure time together.
