Home away from home in the center of a beautiful town

A spacious apartment on the third floor of a building (with a lift), with balconies on the opposite sides (northeast-southwest). It's located in the very centre of Velika Gorica, only 20 minutes’ drive from the Croatian capital Zagreb. The building is about 10 years old, so fairly new. A large living room is open to the dining area and the kitchen. The main bedroom has a 160 cm wide bed, whiles a spare bedroom (usually used as an office, with a work station), has a sofa-bed (160 cm wide, when opened). The kitchen is fully equipped, with a refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, electrical oven, microwave oven, a dishwasher and various small appliances (a kettle, Nespresso machine, ice cube maker, rice cooker, juicer, toaster, etc.) The bathroom has both a shower cabin and a tub. There is a washing machine/drier in the bathroom, too.

Velika Gorica has everything one needs: supermarkets, shopping centres, banks, medical facilities, cinema, museum, green market, lovely parks and countless cafes, restaurants, and pizza places, all within the walking distance from my apartment. However, to experience a noisy hustle-bustle of a city, you can go to Zagreb and lose yourself endlessly wandering around. If you drive, you reach Zagreb in about 20 minutes (although parking in the street might not be very easy to find every time, so public garage parking is very useful). If you go by bus (3 different routes/lines with the stop almost in front of the house), you will reach Zagreb in 30 minutes. If you decide to explore the countryside, to go on a day trip to the seacoast, or to see the famous Plitvice lakes with their waterfalls surrounded by pristine nature, you will have an enjoyable and memorable time in Croatia.

As nicely stated on https://croatia.hr/en-gb/useful-information/about-croatia Croatia is one of the most desirable holiday destinations in the world. A region with incredible aquatic resources. A treasure chest filled with National Parks and fresh air. A superpower in terms of lush green areas and breath-taking sunsets. A collector of wonderful islands and an artist that paints golden plains. Simply full of life.

My town (Velika Gorica) has the population of around 150.000 including surrounding villages and suburbs. It is the sixth largest town in Croatia. Residential areas are filled with lovely family houses and numerous 4 or 5-storey buildings.

In September 2004, Velika Gorica received the silver medal Entente Florale (Silver Flower) for preservation of its forests, Roman thermae (archaeological site), restoration of the traditional architecture and finally because as a young legislative city it has magnificently planned all its parks and grass areas. It has also organized for all its citizens a competition in the beauty of private gardens and house lots.

At the 2011 Croatian Tourism Days, the town received the prestigious Croatian Tourist Board Green Flower with golden symbol for the best kept town in continental Croatia.
