Classic Home in Utah

Salt Lake City is the perfect place to explore the American West. Within an hour you can be hiking in the mountains or exploring the Great Salt Lake. Salt Lake City has beautiful parks for children and museums for adults. In the summer there are outdoor concerts and festive farmers' markets.

Over-night trips bring you to the national parks like Zion or Bryce. They are dramatic and inspiring.

Our house was built in 1907 but is fully renovated. Enjoy its charming high ceilings, stained glass windows, and woodwork. On the ground level you will find the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and two bedrooms.  We renovated our kitchen and meals can be eaten in it or the formal dining room.  On this floor there is a washer and dryer.

On the upper floor is a master bedroom suite, an office with computer and high speed internet, and a bathroom.

We have a fenced garden where you can eat meals and relax on a shaded patio. During the summer, we often BBQ.

Located in a historic neighborhood, our home is surrounded by lots of beautiful trees. You can walk to a grocery store and several lovely parks. We live in a quiet neighborhood in a safe city.

Delta airlines offers direct flights from Salt Lake City to London, Paris, and Amsterdam. California is an hour flight away.

About Our Family

We are a family of three.  Colleen is a professor at the University of Utah where she teaches history. John is retired but was a professor of biomedical informatics--using computers in medical care.   Brigit is 27 and lives in Washington DC so she does not normally travel with us.  We love to travel and have done exchanges in many European countries and in the US.  We enjoy museums and old cities, live music, cooking market-bought meals, and meeting new people. We promise to take good care of your home.

Lifestyle

Salt Lake City is nestled in the Rocky Mountains and is the capital of the state of Utah.  In the summer you can hike, mountain climb, fish, and explore.  The Great Salt Lake is a short drive away and you can see buffalo grazing in one of the lake's islands. In addition to the nearby mountains, the southern part of the state is noted for its national parks with their magical red rock deserts—Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks, Arches.  We hosted the Winter Olympics in 2002 and Salt Lake is the perfect place for a skiing vacation. In less than an hour you can be at the world-famous resorts of Park City, Alta, or Snowbird.

Salt Lake has many cultural attractions, including a well-designed zoo, symphony, ballet, and opera. We live within walking distance to the University and several parks for children. During the summer we have a large farmer's market and there are many outdoor concerts.  The state capital, our city is a safe and historic, with lots of character. There are many things to see or you can just sit in our quiet backyard and relax.

There are direct flights on Delta Airline from Amsterdam, London, and Paris to Salt Lake City.  The airport is a 15 minute taxi or Uber drive from our house.  In little over an hour by plane you can be in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, or Las Vegas.
